Christian Werthmuller’s journey from the tranquil foothills of Tustin, where he first discovered his love for horses, to becoming an esteemed Electronics Engineer and a proud veteran of the United States Army, is a story of passion, resilience, and dedication. Christian’s early life, enriched by the presence of two horses at home, laid the foundation for a lifelong appreciation of these majestic creatures.
Embarking on an academic and military career, Christian earned an Associate in Arts (AA) from Orange Coast College, a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Communications with a minor in Military Science from California State University at Fullerton, and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Redlands. His military service began in the enlisted ranks, and through determination and commitment, he rose to the rank of Sergeant before deciding to pursue further education through the Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) at CSUF. This led to his commission as a Second Lieutenant in Aviation, later transitioning to Ordnance (Explosives/Munitions), where he served honorably, including during Operation Iraqi Freedom, until an injury concluded his distinguished 23-year career in uniform.
Throughout his service, which took him from Central America to Germany, and the battlefields of Iraq and Kuwait, Christian held several leadership roles, from Team Leader to Company Commander and beyond. His experiences have not only shaped him but also deeply informed his involvement in equine therapy, where he serves both as a rider and an adviser, leveraging his unique insights for the benefit of others.
Christian’s personal life is as rich and fulfilling as his professional one. Married and a father to a blended family of four children, all of whom have pursued higher education and meaningful careers, he embodies the values of dedication, family, and service. An active community member, he volunteers as the California State Veteran Support Liaison and enjoys camping, hiking, and cooking with produce from his own garden.
Residing in Mission Viejo since 2011, Christian’s life story is a testament to the power of dedication, the importance of service, and the enduring love for family and horses that has guided his journey every step of the way.
